This corner (Wyndham & Fryers Sts) was very popular back in the 1940s/50s for 'candid photography'. We have a number of photos taken outside the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney building which gives us a great snapshot of Shepparton and its people at that time. Most of them had the postcard layout on the reverse. There may have been a few people taking these photos at that time to make some money... “To most people a street photographer was someone who would take your picture for a fee and send you the print later (or, since the adoption of the polaroid by such vendors, give it to you right on the spot)." (History of Street Photography) Notice on the back of the postcard below it says 'Candid Photo No. and extra copies available. Here are a few of the photos we have collected. If you have one we would love to get a copy of it. Drop it into the shop (204 Corio St) to be scanned or email it to: [email protected] |

These are all amazing candid photos. I am not sure how talented you are, but from what I can see, you are pretty talented. It is hard for some people to gauge talent from just these photos, but I am not like most people. I seriously believe that we can all get a sense of talent from all of these. I hope that you continue your journey in photography, because you have a future if you work hard on it.
