Shepparton's much loved Public Buildings (Post Office & Court House) was built in 1882/3.
(Post Office history here)
Lost Shepparton began in 2013 as a Facebook page to share Shepparton's history via photos. We have come a long way.
Many people were shocked when it was demolished in 1973. There was talk of it being rebuilt at the International Village. It did not happen. Since that time people have mooted that it should be rebuilt but not sure how or where.
Two years ago the Shepparton Heritage Centre committee raised the possibility of rebuilding a "Post Office replica" - with new museum galley spaces and started working on the project.
Discussions ensued with the Council planning department, car parking introduced and plans being drawn up (based on the 1882 plans).
We are about to start a big fundraising drive to raise the funds for PROJECT REBUILD; the rebuilding of a replica of the Wyndham St Post Office on the Heritage Centre site.
We will be using Fan Funded (initiative of Shepparton's own, Sean Bowen - musician/entrepreneur) to help raise funds for this project.
We invite you to join our team and to commit to $2 USD ($2-$3 AUD) weekly.
These funds will go towards the set-up costs of getting the project off the ground and to support the work of Lost Shepparton to help manage the project.
The funds for the building stage will come from Government grants, philanthropic grants, sponsorship, GoFundMe etc.
Hoping you will join us on an amazing journey that will give Shepparton a wonderful historic icon (and new Museum space) and along the way get us some national recognition.
